A single image can capture a moment, but it can rarely tell a story. You know what those boring backdrop shot's in the yearbook doesnt tell you?
ANYTHING about you! except maybe the way you wore your back in the day.
Tell a story with your college graduation photos
You may be asking "So how can you tell your story of who you are through your graduation pictures?"
For your graduation picture bring props, it can be simple, your favorite dress, or even your furry friend to help your story! Another way to make the session a little bit more YOU! Is to go to your favorite place. Love the Theatre? Great ill meet you at the Theatre in five! Want the outdoors scene with your dog? Perfect! Let's go find a creek to play around in!
These are just a few examples I have to help tell your story! If you have any other ideas i'd love to hear them in the comments below!
2. Capture the joy of the day with friends
Graduation events are filled with fun and joy. They're not just about formal group photos and the ceremonies. Spice things up and get some pictures with some pic's of friends and family with you! Group photos are great, but nothing captures the essence of graduation day like a group shot with those close friends. Use your diplomas as props! Take a picture infront of the building where you met your best friend. Or pose in some of your favorite spots on campus where you made the most memories!
Your college friends become your new family on campus. Let's face it, your college friends are there for you when you're dealing with all sorts of problems- whether they're related to your studies or not. Celebrate all the memories you guys have had on campus with those joy filled pictures together!
3 Choose the best time of the year for your graduation pictures
There is such a wide variety of seasons for taking pictures. There's no right or wrong time in the year to get them done! But if you're planning for your graduation pictures to be outside, the weather is most definitely a factor. Every season is photogenic in it's own way, but which season is best for you?
Summer:
Summer is said to be the season with the most potential. With its cloudless blue skies and the longer warmer days. This season is unbeatable for outdoor photography options! But it is warm in the summer, so make those plans with your outfits so you wont be melting underneath the heat of the sun. Summer is all about flaunting your summer tan after all!
Fall:
Fall with it's infite amount of different colors and the cool fresh air, Nature's art comes into play at a full swing. The earthy colors with its warm and fiery hues makes for the PERFECT backdrop. Also the lightning gives your photos a beautiful, golden glow that just cant be achieved at other times of the year.
Spring:
Spring represents the start of something new, the blossoming of a new life. What season could be more fitting for you as you embark on this next graduation chapter! The temperature is perfectly balanced so it gives you a couple more options when choosing your outfits! You also get those backgrounds of blossiming flowers and the lush green leaves growing back!
Winter:
Winter definitely isnt the most sought after season for photos. But it doesnt mean it doesnt have its charms. Winter creates for magical landscapes and nothing beats the allure of the snowflakes falling. When it's cold, fewer people are out and about and this is perfect if you are a little nervous taking pictures in public spaces! Also with no leaves on the trees it creates a wider variety of angles and perspectives that cant be achieved in the other seasons.
Every season offers something a little different- decide which one speaks to you! (or just choose to get photos in multiple different seasons!)
